So you wanted to know more eh? Here goes!
This family of ours came together as it is today when Sara and I got married on June 16, 2006 combining the two famlies of Scott and Abby and Sara, Sierra, and Taylor.
Sara and I met on eHarmony.com in February of 2006 and immediately hit it off. For those of you that don’t know about the system at eHarmony.com, you get matched with people based on your personality profiles and then you go through 4 stages of communication before actually getting to communicate directly to them through e-mail, etc. This process eliminates a lot of the trial and error dating that you go through if you meet people otherwise. We already knew what we liked and didn’t like so that saves several months of getting to know someone.
Anyway, Sara and I knew within about 2 months of dating that our relationship was something special and that God meant for us to be together so we got married after 4 months of dating.
The first thing you should know about this new family is that we are a Christian family. While we aren’t perfect, we strive to live our lives the way Christ would have us live it. We teach our kids about God’s word and are trying to make our lives an example and testimony to the goodness of Christ. We attend Liberty Baptist Church in Sweetser, Indiana and go to the Sunday morning service, the Sunday night service, and Thursday night electives.
When we’re not at church we are usually spending time together in various activities as a family. No one member of the family is any more important to the other, so we try to participate together as much as possible with each other’s hobbies. For example, I love to work in the yard, so in the evenings we will frequently go outside and work in the yard together. Sara loves cooking and the kids love to help her in the kitchen. (I love to help in the kitchen by always cleaning my plate when it’s put in front of me)
Sara and I also try to give our kids some of the things that we didn’t have when we were children. We don’t have a lot of money but we try to go out for ice cream or dinner, or some of the fun little things. However, we always try to make sure our children know that the truly important thing in life is that we glorify God in all that we do. Sara and I are very mission oriented and try to find every opportunity to serve others and pass the word and example of God to others.
